ASTD: Linking People, Learning & Performance

The ASTD Competency Model provides a strategic road professional.  There are three groups to the Model:

  • Roles are groupings of targeted competencies. They are not job titles. An individual’s job may encompass one or more roles, similar to different "hats" that one might have to wear.
  • Areas of Expertise are the specialized
knowledge/skills an individual needs over the
foundational competencies. An individual may need expertise in one or more areas.
  • Foundational Competencies define relevant
behaviors for learning and performance professionals to varying degrees.

What is the "Power of 2?":

When ASTD members join both the national organization and their chapter, they choose to be knowledge leaders in the workplace learning and performance (WLP) profession and change makers in their own backyard.

Joint membership offers WLP professionals a unique opportunity to connect with local, national, and international professionals. Joint members can learn about trends in the field, and gain access to research, principles, practices, and templates they can apply directly to impacting organizational results, their community, and advancing their career.
